Identify where the fibre ends
With FTTH, fibre reaches the property. HFC uses coaxial for part of the route. Ask the quote to identify technology available at your address, not just the network advertised in a campaign.
Compare speeds in both directions
Downloading and uploading are different activities. Do not assume fibre is symmetrical: confirm both speeds. Latency and stability are observed in actual use and also depend on networks and equipment.
What to ask before accepting
- What exact technology is available at my home?
- What upload speed does the offer include?
- What equipment will be installed and does it cost extra?
- Does the price change if another technology is used?
