What the numbers mean

Mbps is the transfer rate advertised by the plan. Also compare upload speed, technical terms and installed equipment. Device performance may be limited by its interface, Wi-Fi signal and simultaneous use.

What changes when downloading

Under ideal conditions, higher speed transfers the same file faster. As a theoretical exercise, 10 GB is about 80,000 megabits: 133 seconds at 600 Mbps, 100 at 800, and 85 at 940. Actual use involves limitations and overhead, so these times are not guaranteed.

What does not change automatically

Moving from 600 to 940 does not fix a dead spot or guarantee lower gaming latency. Before paying more, identify whether capacity is saturated or the problem is in your home network.

Compare the full cost

A faster offer may have a lower initial price but a different promotional period or subsequent price. Compare the same period and confirm missing pricing stages. If both meet your needs, equipment and total cost help you decide.

When to compare another speed tier

Same usage, different price

Compare upload speed, equipment and 12-month cost as well as download speed. A larger number does not require choosing the most expensive plan.

Many connected devices

Count activities running at the same time. Several idle devices are not the same as all devices downloading, streaming or uploading.
